Bold blue boy's room

Pick a defining colour, such as this bold blue, then choose furniture and accessories accordingly. Smart  curtains in a graphic, retro-style print add interest, while the walls give a bold backdrop. The floor has been kept neutral in order to make sure the look isn't overwhelming.

Yellow playroom

Colourful walls make this bedroom instantly fun and appealing to children. A patterned rug and curtains add interest to the room and offset the brightness of the wall colour.

Feminine bedroom

Soft, purple carpet is used to cover a raised platform surrounding the bed in this girly room. This adds a tactile quality and contrasts nicely with the smooth finish of the patterned glass bedhead

Pink and orange girl's room

Pink is the obvious choice for a girl, but to prevent it becoming too sugary use a mix of patterns in vibrant shades of raspberry, red and orange. Temper them with white walls and furniture to keep the look fresh and contemporary.

Red boy's room

The bold colour of the alcoves is picked up in this quirky London bus-themed wallpaper. A Union Jack rug in surprising shades completes the look.

Pink girl's room

Different shades of pink have been used in this girl's bedroom for a modern, tonal effect. The white furniture helps to soften the vibrancy of the pink.

Orange and red bedroom

Orange and raspberry make a bold statement and go perfectly with stylised floral curtain fabric and a floral duvet cover and pillowcases. The colourful cushions really complete the look.

Multicoloured bedroom

Opt for blocks of strong colour in a teenage boy's room. Modular furniture, such as a low level chair and a TV unit on wheels, create a multi-functional space. The bold striped carpet ties the look together.

Striped ceiling

And now for something completely different... a striped ceiling is designed to be a cheery sight for a child as soon as they wake up, and it's a striking alternative to papering or painting a statement wall. We love this look.
